HELLO Deviant Art! It's been 8 years since I last posted. I'm working on a side project, and thought I'd share it here: Disruption at all costs can lead to big wins—but also big misses. AI generated art and the speed in which it has consumed every bit of human emotion, creativity and time invested to date, and distilled it into fast-food style creation has been a constant theme here on Linkedin. More recently, it's become a rallying call on sites like ArtStation (just try visiting their homepage!). Don't get me wrong though: AI art is here to stay whether we like it or not. Personally, I'm excited at the possibilities and how it'll change both how and what I create. But as someone who has created art professionally and also been in the startup game, I'm certain that all the companies involved have done the bare minimum to cover themselves legally, and will continue to consume and extract the value of art everywhere as their fuel for growth—I mean, why not?
